Sunday 30 may at 10am – Outdoor tour
Memories of old lives: the homes of English people in Florence during the 19th century
The tour will bring us through the residences inhabited in the first half of the 19th century by English poets and artists, who gathered around Elisabeth and Robert Browing, choosing Florence as their second homeland. The binder of their friendship was beyond art and literature, the spiritual quest that appears in filigree in many of their works, inspired by many high liberal ideals.
Their lives and their interests will help spread, in Florence, the new philosophies professed by the esoteric circles across the Alps.
The tour that will reveal the secrets of their out-of-the-ordinary lives starts from Ponte Vecchio, winding through the Oltrarno and ends in Via Tornabuoni.
