Casa Buonarroti Museum – Michelangelo: Art and Genius

When Michelangelo moved permanently to Rome, he was consumed by a single thought: to leave the family name to posterity by linking it to a building in Florence that embodied the concept of an “honorable city home.”

It was his nephew Leonardo and his son, Michelangelo the Younger, who carried out the artist’s vision. They transformed the purchased houses into a single residence designed to safeguard not only some of Buonarroti’s finest works but also his sketches and drawings—all enclosed within finely frescoed walls.

Visiting this house, we encounter enigmatic intarsia (marquetry), canvases, and frescoes created by the most prominent seventeenth-century painters, all intended to glorify Michelangelo’s art and the greatness of his lineage.

It is a journey through history, art, and beauty, celebrating the man who masterfully fused talent and artistic genius into the highest form of perfection.
