The Villa Medici in Poggio a Caiano and its wonders

The Villa Medici in Caiano, designed by Giuliano da Sangallo for Lorenzo il Magnifico, as an example of Renaissance architecture that merged the lesson of the classics (in particular Vitruvio) with characteristic elements of Tuscan rural architecture, preserves testimonies that refer to the environment neoplatonic and hermetic of the court of “il Magnifico”, such as the architectural structure and the Della Robbia frieze.

In Leone X’s room the allegories of Medici power, the ancient stories that overlap with contemporary ones, and the symbols all to be revealed and interpreted, will lead us inside unexpected dimensions to be discovered. All around, the luxuriant nature of the garden, in continuity with the structure of the villa, invites us to proceed on a path that immerses us in our own interiority.
