Giorgio Vasari in Arezzo – Genius and Alchemy
The first forty years of Giorgio Vasari, undisputed protagonist of the Renaissance, were marked by a wandering existence, tied to the hospitality of courts and monasteries for which he constantly worked.
When Cosimo I de’ Medici called him to his palace, elevating him to the role of trusted architect and painter, his departure from Arezzo, his native city, seemed to become definitive. Despite these continuous moves, his home in Arezzo has remained a magical place to this day, in which the artist was able to give vent to his pictorial genius by inserting mythological-sapiential elements strongly linked to Hermeticism and Alchemy in those rooms.
The visit will also extend through the streets of Arezzo, going in search of the places and churches that Vasari deeply loved and that remained, despite his frenetic activity, the reference points of his entire life.
