The Geometries of Nature – The Gifts of the Forest
Tuesday course: from 15 October to 17 December 10 am – 12.30 pm
Thursday course: from 17 October to 19 December 3 – 5.30 p.m.
In October the new autumn botanic watercolour courses will begin and the subject will be ‘The Gifts of the Forest’.
I live in the countryside, and soon I will be walking around my home and see the autumn berries of the rose hips, sorbs, and hazelnuts ripening.
With the increased humidity, silver lichen will grow on the branches of the oaks and swell the acorns, in the ground the snails will come out of their shelters, and the ferns, after the great heat, will reappear among the shady stones. If I am lucky I will also find a few abandoned eggs, some colourful jay feathers or porcupine needles.
All this beauty I offer you in these classes, we will immerse ourselves together in the observation of these little big things and by learning to paint them you will make them your own.
During the lessons, we will initially work on pencil drawing aimed at in-depth observation of the morphological characteristics of the chosen subject and its best artistic composition. After the preparatory work we will move on to the composition and realisation of the board, the reproduction on the final sheet will be carried out using the tracing technique. Finally, an attempt will be made to recreate their forms through the use of colour and light.
The course is open to a maximum of 6 – 7 adult participants, both beginners and enthusiasts, provided they have, or wish to develop, good observation skills and an interest not only in painting but also in the beauty of nature.
The courses are held at the headquarters of the Cultural Association ‘Firenze Alchemica’ in Via Metastasio 3/red (Porta Romana area).
